FZE Inline Hockey

Fort Zumwalt East Inline Hockey is a competitive spring sport that participates in the Missouri Inline Hockey Association (MOIHA), providing players with an exciting opportunity to represent the Lions while continuing their hockey development.

Our program proudly fields teams for players in grades 6 through 12, offering opportunities for athletes of varying ages and skill levels to learn, compete, and grow within a positive team environment. Whether a player is new to the sport or an experienced competitor, Fort Zumwalt East Inline Hockey provides a pathway for development and success.

Much like our ice hockey program, we are committed to building strong athletes and even stronger teammates. Through quality coaching, structured practices, and competitive league play, players develop their skating, puck skills, hockey IQ, teamwork, and leadership abilities while representing the Lion name with pride.

The Fort Zumwalt East Inline Hockey program is more than just a season—it's an opportunity for athletes to build friendships, gain confidence, compete at a high level, and become part of a tradition that values character, sportsmanship, and excellence both on and off the rink.

High School Team Eligibility

Eligibility for the high school team is open to students in grades 9–12 who attend Fort Zumwalt schools and are expected to attend or currently attend Fort Zumwalt East High School. In addition, students from neighboring school districts that do not offer an inline hockey program may also be eligible to join the Fort Zumwalt East Inline Hockey team in accordance with MOIHA league guidelines.

Our program welcomes dedicated student-athletes who are looking to compete, develop their skills, and proudly represent the Lions both on and off the rink.

Junior High Team Eligibility

Our junior high program provides young athletes with an opportunity to develop their skills, learn the game, compete in a team environment, and begin building the foundation for future success within the Fort Zumwalt East hockey family.

For the upcoming season, we anticipate fielding one or two junior high teams. Team placement and the competitive level at which each team will compete will be determined following the preseason tournament, ensuring players are placed in the environment that best supports their development and team success.

What Equipment Differences Are There Between Inline and Ice Hockey?

One of the great things about inline hockey is that the majority of your ice hockey equipment can be used on the rink. Aside from your skates, most of the gear is very similar, making the transition from ice to inline hockey simple and affordable.

Key equipment differences include:

🏒 Inline Pants

Instead of traditional ice hockey pants and socks, inline hockey players wear lightweight inline hockey pants designed for mobility and comfort.

🏒 Hip Protection

Many players choose to wear an inline hockey girdle for additional hip and tailbone protection. While not required, it is recommended, especially for players new to the sport.

🏒 Shoulder Protection

Inline hockey players do not wear traditional ice hockey shoulder pads. However, we strongly recommend wearing a padded compression shirt or protective upper-body shirt to provide added protection while maintaining mobility.

🏒 Everything Else Stays the Same

Helmets, gloves, shin guards, elbow pads, protective cups, mouthguards, and other standard hockey equipment are the same as those used in ice hockey.

If you're already playing ice hockey, you're likely only a few equipment changes away from being ready to hit the inline rink and represent Fort Zumwalt East Hockey!
